Booking & Reservations at Seaside

  1. Do I need to reserve my rental?
    We highly recommend booking ahead of time through our website. It will save you time when you come into the store, so you’ll be in the water faster.

  2. Can I cancel or reschedule my rental?
    You can cancel or reschedule your rental at no cost.

  3. I have a large group of people (6 or more) that want to rent, can you accommodate us?
    We often rent to groups, though it’s best to call in advance to make sure we have everything ready when you arrive. This helps you get in the water faster.

  4. Do you offer group discounts or family packages?
    We offer group discounts for parties of eight or more.


Gear & Equipment

  1. What kind of surfboards do you rent?
    We rent a wide range of surfboards from soft tops to top-of-the-line epoxy boards. At the moment, we are mostly renting Torq surfboards. We also have demo surfboards.

  2. What surfboards do you demo?
    We have a wide selection of surfboards available for demo at both of our stores. Please see our demo surfboard page. We may have other boards available than what is listed, or we may no longer have a specific board shown, so feel free to call to check.

  3. What kind of wetsuits do you rent?
    Our rental fleet may change from year to year, but we are always renting 5/4 back zip wetsuits from the brands we carry, including Billabong, O’Neill, Rip Curl, Roxy, and more.

  4. Are leashes and surf wax included with the surfboard rental?
    All surfboard rentals include a leash and wax at no additional charge.

  5. Are helmets or other protective gear available?
    We do not rent helmets or similar protective gear. PFDs are provided with SUP and kayak rentals for your safety.

  6. Can the rental or demo fee go toward the purchase of new gear?
    If you rent certain items from us, we can offer a discount on related purchases.
    1. Wetsuit Rental: $25 off the purchase of a wetsuit
    2. Surfboard Rental: $30 off the purchase of a surfboard
    3. Surfboard Demo: $50 off the purchase of a surfboard


Age, Sizing & Skill

  1. Are there any age limits for renting surfboards or wetsuits?
    There are no age limits for renting surfboards or wetsuits. However, if you are under 18, you must have parental consent.

  2. Are certain board sizes recommended based on weight or skill level?
    For beginners, longboards and soft tops are the best choice. They’re more stable, easier for practicing pop-ups, and forgiving as you learn the fundamentals.

  3. Are certain beaches or areas better suited for beginners?
    Short Sands and Indian Beach are ideal for beginners, especially during summer. Their positioning helps block the NW wind, keeping conditions cleaner and more forgiving. Both are scenic state parks and great starting points for learning.


Safety & Conditions

  1. Can I rent when the surf is big and it’s stormy out?
    If conditions are unsafe, we will not rent for the day. Check a surf report before heading down or call one of our shops for the latest swell info. Generally, if the surf is 7ft or over, we won’t be renting. If you book ahead, we may contact you before your rental to cancel if conditions are determined unsafe.

  2. Are rentals available if conditions are marginal but not unsafe?
    We do not rent equipment during hazardous or near-unsafe conditions. Our staff will assess the surf and make safety-based decisions.

  3. What happens if my gear gets damaged when I’m out using it?
    We charge for broken, damaged, or lost items, so surf within your ability and steer clear of rocks, shallow water, and other surfers. Make sure your gear is secured during transport. We’re not looking to profit from damage, only to cover repair or replacement costs.

  4. What happens if the gear is lost or stolen while rented?
    You are responsible for lost or stolen gear during your rental period. Our management team reviews each case individually and determines replacement costs as needed.


Pickup, Drop-off & Storage at Seaside

  1. What time should I bring my rental back?
    For daily rentals, gear is due back one hour before closing so we can clean and prep it for the next day. We also offer 24-hour and 36-hour rentals with flexible pick-up and return times, though all returns must be made at least one hour before closing.

  2. Can rentals be picked up at one location and returned to another?
    We prefer rentals to be returned to the same location for inventory purposes. Contact us directly if you need to make special arrangements.

  3. Can rentals be left overnight for early morning pickup?
    We do not have a secure location for after-hours pickup or return.

  4. Can Cleanline store a board between surf sessions for multi-day rentals?
    Yes, you’re welcome to bring your board back to the shop for overnight storage if you don’t have a safe place for it. Wetsuits and accessories must stay with you, as they are not replaced daily.

  5. Are there nearby parking options for picking up or returning rentals?
    Both of our shops have convenient parking available for your visit.

  6. When does the shop open and close today?
    Both of our shops have different closing times throughout the week. Please visit our contact us page to view when our store is open and closed.
